What I'm about to reveal to you in this article is something that you may find quite amazing, in fact you may not believe what I am about to tell you. If health and well-being of both yourself and your family is of paramount importance to you then you'll be amazed to learn that the healthiest place that you can visit is not your local gym, but it is in fact your local supermarket, you just need to learn how to use it correctly.
In Australia recently a survey of over 1000 women found that those who actually enjoy shopping at their supermarket and had the discipline to stick to the shopping lists they had already made before visiting their supermarket, in fact were healthier than those that didn't, the survey finding that these women actually purchased more fruit and vegetables, so you can already see that by changing your perception of shopping at a supermarket can have a dramatic change on both your lifestyle and your healthiness.
It therefore goes without saying that if you look upon a trip to the supermarket not something that has to be done and is mundane but rather something that can benefit you and your family, improving their eating habits and their general health and well-being, by making this simple change can have a huge impact. When you go and eat in fast-food restaurants, you have absolutely no idea in the food that you are eating and what is in it, whereas cooking your own food at home and knowing precisely the ingredients that you use ensures that only the healthiest ingredients are included. A side benefit of cooking at home can be seen in the money that you will save and in fact a recent survey found that over 70% of all Americans were looking to stay at home and cook more of their own food, saving them money. Believe it or not it has been found that only 20% of us actually eat five or less home-cooked meals per week with a staggering one in six of us eating less than three home-cooked meals per week.
Here is something else to think about, unless you have worked in the kitchens at a sports bar, restaurant, diner etc then you have absolutely no way of knowing what ingredients are used in the food you eat there, therefore you do not know wether your meal contains 200 or 2000 calories, let alone what food additives may have been used.
Finding your way around a supermarket and getting the best from your shopping experience is not a simple task and takes quite a bit of pre-thought and even some insider knowledge! Fortunately for all of us a thoughtful person has released a new book titled "Eat This Not That! Supermarket Survival Guide" which guides you through all the right steps in using your local supermarket as a place to improve your health and well-being.
